Blooming Notes #1
Introducing a new label on this website! Welcome to my "blooming notes/updates." When you check out this section, you will find classroom news and important school announcements. Think of it as a flyer or handout found only on the computer. This will save paper and guarantee that you will find the information you need.
- Dreambox account information will be sent home on Friday, September 13th. Your child already knows how to log into Dreambox using the Twin Branch Webpage.
- Our new art teacher is asking for your help in collecting the following items for art: shoe boxes, newspapers, clean and empty yogurt containers, and plastic grocery store bags.
- SCANTRON testing is almost complete, so you will receive an envelope containing your child's scores soon. First grade scores will only be a baseline dot on the graph because this is their first time to be tested.

Word Work Folder Information
Dear Parents,
We are ready to begin our yellow word work folders. These folders will contain word lists and other information to help your child begin to create an individualized spelling portfolio of words. You will find a list of core words in the first page protector, and your child’s personal spelling words for the first spelling session in the second page protector. Please help your child practice the personal spelling words everyday! Even five or ten minutes a day would be wonderful. Core words should also be practiced. These words will then be expected to be spelled correctly in all written work. Please remember to practice the personal words everyday and return the folder to school everyday! We use our folders almost daily in school! Word quizzes will take place on Thursdays. We will all have some of the same words, but we will also have individualized lists. Thank you for your support!!!!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Marchi

Newsletters - Welcome Letter
July - 2013
Dear Families,
It
is that time of year again when I begin to get all excited because the stores
are filled with school supplies! You
just can’t beat the smell of new crayons and backpacks. For those of you who are returning – welcome back! For those of you who do not know me, my name
is Gina Marchi, and I want to welcome you to 1-2 DEEP. I am looking forward to meeting all of you in
August.
The
theme for this year will be “This Land is Your Land.” The overall concept for our classroom will be
Harmony. We will create a peaceful classroom
environment as we study harmony in our community and in nature. This year students
will create curiosity boxes, and also make a Beanie Baby Animal Habitat. We
have plenty of other exciting study trips and activities planned. We are asking
each child to write a sentence on the paper provided to tell us about something
“Fun in the Sun” you did this summer. It
would be really great if you could also send in a picture of your child wearing
sunglasses.
Click here and you will find an updated list of supplies with instructions for labeling the items. Students love to have some
special items in their boxes. If your
child wants a few “fancy” pencils or special erasers of their own, these items
may be placed in his or her school box as well.
First Graders and second graders new to DEEP may also want to purchase a
flash drive. These would be helpful for
saving our published writing.
I
am excited to see everyone on the first day of school and at Open House on
August 29th! There will be a
meeting for first grade parents and anyone new to DEEP at 5:30-6:00 in our
classroom before Open House begins at 6:00.
